The pace of data breaches has reached epic proportions. Organizations large and small, in every industry are falling victim to hackers, hacktivists and nation states. Your intellectual property, data and bank accounts have never been at greater risk - it's not if, but when your organization will be victimized. Developing and maintaining an effective Incident Response plan and team has never been more important. This session will present an in-depth look at several recent data breach victims and how their incident response processes led to effective business resumption or epic failure. Attendees will learn best practices for responding to incidents, from law enforcement, forensics and legal considerations to compliance and public relations. The presentation will also cover the standards and compliance regulations - from NIST and US-CERT to HIPAA and the NYS Information Security Breach and Notification Act - that should be considered when developing Incident Response policies and procedures. Attendees will take away actionable information for implementing an effective Incident Response program.

2:30pm             Pandemic Influenza Tabletop Presentation
Laura Stebbins, Glens Falls Hospital
Pandemics are usually long term events that could significantly impact "business as usual" for Assisted Living and Long Term Care facilities. This presentation will provide an opportunity to discuss the potential impact a pandemic could have on your facilities and the entire community served. The tabletop format provides the sharing of ideas among colleagues, including best practice recommendations. Objectives: 1) To identify the potential impact a pandemic outbreak would have on Assisted Living and Long Term Care facilities.  2) To determine potential gaps/opportunities in emergency preparedness for a biological incident in these facilities. 3) To review community resources and agency partners in a pandemic.

Optional Session:
During this conference, the NYS Department of Health will host two sessions of:

e-FINDS: Real-World Practical Exercises
The e-FINDS Real-world Practical Exercises course is designed to give New York State’s licensed Adult Care Facilities and nursing facilities true hands-on practice with the e-FINDS patient tracking system in a controlled, and comfortable setting, with expert guidance on hand. There will be no lecture in this 100 percent practical session. Participants should come prepared to move around the room and experience all facets of e-FINDS. Although it is not required, participants may wish to bring a laptop and their e-FINDS scanner as long as their communications directory has the proper assigned roles.

The session will run twice, once from 9:00am-10:30am and again at 10:45am-12:00pm.
The fee to attend is $45.00 per person.

This program is in conjunction with the Emergency Preparedness conference, but will require separate registration.  Registration is limited to 30 people per session and is on a first come first serve basis. Advanced registration is required, walk-ins will not be accepted. Registration for an e-FINDS session will not grant you access to the Emergency Preparedness Conference.
